Rainwater Harvesting:
The Society sought advice from the Centre for Science & Environment and commissioned them to make a plan for establishing a rainwater harvesting
system for the building. This was put in place during construction and is working very well.
Tihar Jail, School Furniture & Fixtures:
This Tihar Jail experiment has been unique, both for the jail and for Shiv Niketan. Born out of a conversation between the Chairperson and the then
Director-General of the Jail, the experiment involved commissioning inmates interested in carpentry, to build furniture and basic door/window flames
for the building at Kalibari. So enthused were the inmates, that they first renovated a disused garbage dump within the jail and setup the
'Shiv Niketan Workshop'.
School Initiatives:
The School has been participating in programmes under Bhagidari with the State Government.
The School has been conducting various programmes in partnership with The Earth Centre 'TEC', Dalhousie, involving different schools in and around
